Spring One: Mystakonic Showcase
0:00
Welcome to the Sounds of Fylm show, hosted by Professor Neil Fox from Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab. In this episode you will find a preview through sound of the fourth screening event April at Verdant Taproom. The screening on Tuesday June 30th is a celebration of Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab’s ongoing collaboration with FylmK and Screen Cornwall in the production of Cornish language short film.
Music in the show comes from a recommendation by Dr Laura Canning, one of the filmmakers and the evening’s co-host, as Laura is a vital member of the Sound/Image Cinema Lab team. Also, some choice Northern Soul cuts due to a documentary Neil watched in May, and loved, as well as a track from one of his early films, 2006’s homage to Jean-Pierre Melville, Clandestine.
In the middle you will also hear the on-stage conversation recorded at the May event, Neil in conversation with Kingsley Marshall (writer/producer) and Ryan Mackfall (writer/director) from Myskatonic, and some of their key collaborators - Neil Halstead from Slowdive (composer, The Birdwatcher), Joe Gray (co-director) and Darcy Vanhinsberg (actor) from their latest short film, Howsalva Gwav.
Enjoy, and see you at the Taproom, Kernow’s newest (and only?) CinéBar.
