Spring One: Documentary Showcase
0:00
Welcome to the Sounds of Fylm show, hosted by Professor Neil Fox from Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab. In this episode you will find a preview through sound of the third screening event April at Verdant Taproom. The screening on TuesdayMay 26th is a celebration of Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab’s ongoing collaboration with the incredible film & television company Myskatonic (Kingsley Marshall & Ryan Mackfall), Kernow’s leading purveyors of the strange, eerie and uncanny.
Music in the show comes from a film screening that night, the company’s new documentary for Hammer Films, The Land Demands Blood, an exploration of the Cornish Gothic featuring filmmakers including Mark Jenkin and last month’s guest Jane Darke - who can be heard talking in this epsisode.
There are also cuts from musicians who have woked with Myskatonic and a couple of songs from films I loved during my April viewing. In the middle you will also hear the on-stage conversation recorded at the April event, hosted by filmmaker Paul Mulraney, whose film From the Culch screened on the night, in conversation with Sky Neal, Dan Simpkins and Jane Darke. Enjoy, and see you at the Taproom, Kernow’s newest (and only?) CinéBar.
